Pain when urinating and a constant urge to urinate? Patients with chronic cystitis (bladder infection) such as interstitial cystitis, overactive bladder, chronic recurrent urinary tract infections or radiogenic cystitis know these symptoms only too well. These patients suffer from a strong urge to urinate, increased urination frequency or pain in the pelvic area. A common cause is damage to the protective layer of the bladder, the glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer.
